LeRoy Sievers is of counsel at the Knudsen Law Firm, where he previously was a partner. LeRoy was admitted to practice law in Nebraska in 1978 after graduating from UNL College of Law in December 1977. In his career, LeRoy has been both in private practice and as well as state government. LeRoy’s practice areas include natural resources, administrative law, real estate, worker’s compensation, appellate practice and estate planning.
Initially, LeRoy was in private practice (1978-1984) where his practice included real estate, business, bankruptcy, domestic relations and a variety of other matters. Subsequently, LeRoy was an assistant attorney general for the State of Nebraska from November 1, 1984 through June 30, 1991. In that capacity he represented the state in the original action of Nebraska v. Wyoming in the US Supreme Court as well as another US Supreme Court case. He also worked on other natural resources related cases. Later, he was Special Assistant to the Director, then Legal Counsel for the Department of Water Resources (July 2, 1991 – Dec. 31, 1999) and later as Legal Counsel for the Department of Natural Resources (June 1, 2010 – April 18, 2019)
When previously with the Knudsen Law Firm (June 1, 2000 – May 30, 2010), LeRoy provided legal services in the area of water and natural resources law for individuals and organizations. His practice also included estate planning, worker’s compensation litigation, real estate and business law. He also served as hearing officer for a number of agencies.
LeRoy is a native of Blair, Nebraska. He graduated with honors from Doane University with a BA in math, served three years in the US Army, including two years at the White House and worked in Washington DC as a computer programmer/analyst while earning a master degree in management in Computer Science from The American University.
